Ghent has a decent public transport system. Generally, the buses have a 15-minute frequency from central locations. The trams are more frequent. For more information, you can visit the website delijn.be for more information. Google Maps works perfectly well to make a route plan to use public transport in Ghent.

Taxis are not always available and can only be booked by phone call. Please consider booking a taxi at least 24 hours in advance. If you are staying close to Gent Sint Pieters station then there is a good taxi point at the Kiss & Ride of Gent Sint Pieters station (main entrance).

Yes, you can park your car at the school venue. A parking permit is necessary to park the car at the school venue. Please get in touch with the school organizers for further details.

There is no requirement for a particular educational background required by the school. A background in electrical engineering, physics and photonics is helpful for a better understanding of the topics discussed at the school.

The school comprises two poster sessions. The poster can describe the project you are working on (not necessarily related to silicon photonics) and your expertise/skills. The poster session will also include light food and drinks. It is the best opportunity for networking and knowledge exchange at the school.

The school itself does not provide any credits for attending the school. The school can provide proof of the number of contact hours. The participants may discuss it with their institutes if they can get credits based on the proof provided by the school.

Yes, the school provides a certificate of attendance to all participants. Attendance in 90% of school lectures is required to get a school certificate.

The school fee covers lunch and coffee breaks for all days. The school fee includes a gala dinner and light dinners during poster sessions. The school does not provide morning breakfast.

The school does not provide accommodation. Consider accommodations close to the school venue or with a good public transport connection to the school. Hotels/Hostels near Ghent Sint-Pietersstation or in the city center of Ghent can be good choices.
